About Us

David Wheater qualified with a law degree from Aberdeen University in 1995 and a Post Graduate Legal Diploma in 1997 from Edinburgh University. He qualified as a solicitor with an Edinburgh law firm in 2001 and is currently enrolled as a non-practising solicitor with the Law Society of Scotland.

In 2001 he moved out of private practice to join the Registers of Scotland in their Complex Land Registration department where he undertook numerous roles in complex land registration (agricultural, commercial & residential), team management and tutoring on land registration.

Over the last ten years David has bought, sold and developed numerous properties in Edinburgh and currently runs a portfolio of rental properties. David is a very enthusiastic landlord and has a particular interest in Scottish landlord & tenant law and reguarly writes on this topic.

David set up Abode Property Finders (Scotland) with his wife, Fiona, after being requested to find and purchase property for friends and family. It became clear there was a need for a buying & relocation agency based in Edinburgh specialising in sourcing Scottish properties for retained clients.

David also runs the Scotland City Guide which is primarily an internet guide for clients of Abode and a great general resource for all those wishing to find out more about living in Scotland and it's six cities Aberdeen, Dundee, Edinburgh, Glasgow, Inverness and Stirling.

David lives in Edinburgh with his wife and his hobbies include fly-fishing, exploring the Scottish highlands, reading, travel and DIY.

David is joined by his wife, Fiona, in running Abode Scotland.

Fiona has always had a great interest in property and over the last 10 years has helped David in all aspects of his property business.

Fiona graduated from Strathclyde University with a science degree and has a Masters degree from Napier University in microbiology & immunology.

Fiona has worked in pharmaceutical sales and clinical trials for most of her career and latterly ran a successful clinical trials company before joining Abode Property Finders.

The time came for a change, however, and it was an easy decision to join her husband in helping run Abode Relocation which she now thoroughly enjoys.

When she's not scouring the country for interesting properties, Fiona enjoys swimming, cooking and spending time with her Bedlington Terrier, Tazzy.
